Feast your eyes on these euphoric snapshots of Asia Music Festival 2014

Asia Music Festival 2014 happened on the 3rd and 4th of October 2014 at Eastwood Valley Golf and Country Club, Miri, Sarawak. Did you miss it? I captured some memories to share with you. Enjoy the snapshots and videos posted here.

On the first day (3rd October 2014), there was a tree planting ceremony, press conference with some performers and another press conference with the Assistant Minister of Tourism.

I'm sensitive to a lot of things, especially pollutants. There were minor bush fires somewhere and I could smell them. I hate haze, I condemn open burning activities. Luckily as the sun rose higher, the haze disappeared.

It is said that only those with the photographer passes are allowed inside the photographer pit, but I have seen a few person without the pass marching into the pit like a boss (you know who you are) to snap pictures. *shrugged*

Andy Kho – the official photographer for AMF2014. He was the only one allowed to take photos ON the stage

I used a lot of Andy’s photos during BJF2014 but this time around, I am using entirely the images I took (mostly using my phone the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom and an Olympus digital camera). I did not bring out the Nikon D7000 because it is heavy for me to carry around, especially with one of my arms is still sore from an injury awhile ago.

The first group to perform was Drumcall. They were good! I’m so proud of them.

The next group to perform was a band from Taiwan who named themselves Pisco. It is a combination of the word piano and disco. The crowd were excited to see two cute guitarists in the line up. They aren’t just cute, they play their instruments well too.

While crew were busy preparing the stage for the next band, DJ Roundhead spinned upbeat music to keep the crowd entertained.

The third group to perform on the first day of AMF2014 was Masia One from Singapore. She has a powerful voice despite her petite frame and she gave an energetic performance to the responsive crowd.

I like taking candid shots. Some say I’m akin to paparazzi but not everyone hates me. I’m not that bad, really. During Borneo Jazz Festival a few months back, I had snapshots of people doing all sorts of quirky stuff but I did not upload those images. This time round, I have the tendency to photo bomb others’ family portraits and taking rear shots of unsuspecting victims.

Even though Misaluvi & Motion Family does not sing, but their performances added variety to the concert. As with the previous evening, DJ Roundhead warmed the crowd up by spinning groovy tracks during the intervals which lasted between 10 to 15 minutes.

The second group to perform on the second day of AMF2014 was Soulmate from India.

Rock music fans were further delighted when the next group, Mad August, came on stage and rocked the house. They sang a few of their original, Chinese rock songs, before rocking two covers (Smells Like Teen Spirit and New Divide) much to the excitement of the crowd. Mad August is from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Cuti-cuti di Tempat Sendiri

Earlier on my spouse and I had planned to go for a holiday once he’s back in town. We are often apart due to the nature of his work, regrettably the time he spends at home is often cut short. We could not take long holidays at some land far far away (in case there’s emergency in his work place which requires him to return to work ASAP; he’s sort of like on a stand-by mode). We were still thinking of a suitable destination to get away to when an idea hit him.

Since I would be involved in AMF2014, why not check-in for two nights at Eastwood Valley Golf and Country Club? I could rest there after my duty is done. He could unwind there too while waiting for me. Our home is just 10 minutes’ drive from the club, but I brought out my luggage bag as if we were going outstation. For your information, the stay wasn’t sponsored by any party. We did it of our own accord. Most of the rooms were already occupied but we managed to get a deluxe suite. It was comfortable.

Prior to AMF2014

The evening before AMF2014, Sarawak Bloggers’ team members from Miri had a small gathering at Seahorse Bistro (Piasau). Also joining us that night were Iqbal and Ian, both are crucial personalities in the festival. Our guest of honor that evening was DJ Roundhead from Traxx FM.

Thank You!

I would like to thank my spouse for granting me the green light to participate in this event. My sincerest gratitude to Ladybird Eileen for luring me into the wonderful world of Sarawak Bloggers. Earnest thanks to my seniors for their kindness and irreplaceable friendships. I consider them my seniors in SB family even though they are technically younger than me; Abang Joe, Fabian, Pei Pei, Petrus and Reyyanna. I am also happy to make acquaintance with the lovely Alvynna.

When she asked me what name I wanna use, I let her choose whichever nick she likes. She chose Angelina, it was the nick she first known me by thru MiriCommunity; I used the nick angel_lina there. Not 100% angelic, maybe half angel half bitch

When Ladybird asked me what name I prefer to put on my badge, I replied it’s up to her. She chose Angelina because she likes to call me by that nick, it’s already saved in her mobile ever since she first known me thru MiriCommunity.net many years back; I used the nick angel_lina there. This ‘angel’ is not 100% angelic, mind you

My heartfelt gratitude to Sarawak Tourism Board for the exciting opportunities given to me and my fellow bloggers. To everyone involved in the event, especially the selfless volunteers – thank you very much from the bottom of my heart. To the sporting crowd, you guys rock! I truly hope that events such as this one would gain continuous support from various bodies; may Sarawak become one of the top destinations for festival goers.

Thank you so much for dropping by. I hope to see you in Asia Music Festival next year. Cheers!
