My leader and fellow bloggers (Ladybird, Pei Pei, Petrus and Fabian) and I were thoroughly thrilled to be invited to the grand launch of TGV Cinemas in Permaisuri Imperial City Mall, Miri recently (12 March 2015, Thursday). We also received movie passes and tickets to the screening of Cinderella! Ah, I love fairy tales, princes and shoes! Many thanks to Ms Nandini Sundran (PR Executive of TGV Cinema Sdn Bhd) for sending the invitations to my leader, ‘Ladybird Eileen’. I’m also very grateful to Sarawak Bloggers for accepting me as one of their members. Special thanks to ‘Ladybird’ for selecting me to be in her team.
Someone once said: “Cinderella is proof that a new pair of shoes can change your life”. How true is that statement? I’m sure you have an interesting story to tell, do drop me a line or two… I would love to hear about your stories, thank you!
I hope you enjoy the pictures and video.
The Press Conference
If you missed the event, don’t worry. I’ve got some snippets to share with you. The speeches are nice. I especially like it when Datuk Lee Kim Shin mentioned about the need to have more good script writers from our own state and how nice it would be to have our own ‘Millywood’. You see, I happen to be deeply interested in the film and entertainment industry. I’m an aspiring script writer too. We’ll talk about censorship and how it inhibits creativity perhaps some other day, alright? For now, let’s talk about the grand launch of TGV Cinemas in Miri.

Prince Charming rather showed his backside to me. I think he was upset because I rejected his advances (I’m kidding!) I only called out to the princess who wore nice shoes :D
Among the dignitaries present were Yang Berhormat Datuk Lee Kim Shin (Assistant Minister of Sports and Communications, Sarawak), Yang Berbahagia Mr. Lawrence Lai (Mayor of Miri), Mr. Gerard V. Dibbayawan (Chief Executive Officer of TGV Cinemas), Mr. Ling Chiong Sing (Chief Executive Director of Boulevard Group of Companies) and Mr. Don Yew Hoon (Chief Executive Officer of Boulevard Group of Companies). Also present were Miri City Council councillors Bruce Chai and Julia Juwen.

Also present during the launch was Mr. Bruce Chai. He was very gracious and pleasant. #ManOfTheHour #Miri
Watch and hear speeches by the VIP:
(My spouse laughed at my video because there were two heads flanking the centre… Well, I’m sorry, I wasn’t seated on the front row. I’d like to apologize for the shaky and low quality clips. At some point, my cheeky fellow bloggers photo-bombed the clip with their fingers, please excuse that, will you? Cheers!)

Distinguished gentlemen sitting from left to right are: Mr. Ling Chiong Sing, Mr. Gerard V. Dibbayawan, YB Datuk Lee Kim Shin and Mr. Lawrence Lai
Flashback
I was born in Miri, but I spent most (a decade) of my youth in West Malaysia. I only returned (permanently) to Miri sometime in 2004. Miri was not yet a city that time. Of course I missed some of the entertainment venues I used to haunt while I was in West Malaysia. Expecting a premium cinema to pop up in my home town back then is like expecting a prince to ask me for a dance! Nevertheless, I never stop dreaming. Now, Miri has TGV so I don’t have to travel elsewhere in search for premium cinemas. Dear Mirians, you wished for a better cinema, now you’ve gotten that wish! Be grateful.
A million thanks to those who are responsible for bringing TGV Cinemas to Miri. To TGV Cinemas, thank you for choosing Miri to position your first branch in East Malaysia.
Your feedback is very much appreciated
