Welcoming Dinner for Borneo Jazz Festival 2015 (May 7, 2015) at Meritz Hotel

In my previous post, I shared some photos from the Borneo Jazz festival 2015 tree-planting ceremony. That evening (7th May 2015), I attended the Welcoming Dinner at Meritz Hotel. Here are the photos taken by our appointed photographers, Nad and Ghaz.

This is the 10th anniversary of Borneo Jazz and there are 8 awesome bands performing for this year’s edition.

They are, in alphabetical order – Anthony Strong (London, UK), Dirty Dozen Brass Band (New Orleans, USA), Doodaddies (Australia), Jump4Joy (Sweden), Lluis Coloma (Spain), Mo’ Blow (Germany), Shafiee Obe & All The Best (Sarawak, Malaysia), and, The Nylons (Canada).

It is really a pity if you miss their performance at the Borneo Jazz 2015, happening now at Parkcity Everly Hotel, Miri.

Once all the necessary speeches were delivered and gifts had been given out, it’s makan time! I heard many stomachs grumbling, lol

After our taste buds were satisfied, we were entertained by lovely, local traditional (welcoming) dance act. The sporting, distinguished guests including performers joined in the fun!

Alright, now, I have a bonus question below… If you can guess correctly, I’ll belanja you some drinks, ok? :)

I’ve been told that I am a paparazzi at heart, but deep in my heart I know that I could never beat the real, ‘pro’ paparazzi –

I’ve seen a few candid shots of me these few days, taken by photographer Nad. Some are funny, some induced small cries from me, like – “When did that happened?!”

The quiz –

Candid shot of me taken by Nad. Jaga you Nad! I'm gonna take revenge, lol

Candid shot of me taken by Nad. You watch out, Nad! I’m gonna take my revenge soon, lol

Guess what Dato’ Lau was saying to me?

(A) “That jacket looks awesome!”

(B) “You have a lovely smile!”

(C) “Would you like to work for me?”

(D) “Oh, You’re pregnant! Congratulations!”

(E) All of the above.

(F) None of the above. I happened to pass by that area and Nad was too fast too furious with his camera! Dato’ was actually speaking to someone behind me.

p/s: Close friends and immediate family members are not allowed to participate in this quiz.

And oh, Nad! You just wait… I’m gonna take some funny candid shots of you one of these hours!

This gotta be the noisiest and craziest table in the dining hall:

Noisiest table. On the extreme left is Ladybird, while Pei is on the extreme right. You can only see my finger pointing at the glass of water. I don’t remember why in the world I did that for. Photo by Nad

I saw someone passed by our table and shook his head after witnessing our antics. lol. There was never a dull moment within our group.

When the slightest dull moment crept in, one of our friends started something like, “Describe your last fart with a movie title!” All sorts of movie titles came out, i.e: ‘Too Fast Too Furious’, ‘Inception’ (a kentut within a kentut within a kentut!), ‘Avatar’ (your face turned blue for holding kentut too long inside an elevator) , ‘300’ (This Is Kentut!), ‘Conjuring’ (go my kentut, go haunt people!), ‘Jangan Pandang Belakang’, ‘Star Wars’, etc. And it happens that most of us are very expressive and have talent in making funny sound effects. It was a hilarious evening.

Thank you to all the sponsors. God bless you all! May you live long and prosper!
